Hi all! Thought I'd show off one of my other projects... the CarPuter app! There are a lot of builds where people are putting their android tablets into cars.. but no love for windows tablets! Where are all the car apps for Windows devices? Problem is, there aren't any. And, I wanted to put my Unbranded 10.1 with Windows 10 into my lil Kia Spectra! So, I decided I would come up with my own app, designing it in Visual Basic 2010. It allows easier navigation to certain apps, ability to control your music, access to a police scanner (!!), google maps, rain alarms, and my favorite, an app to track your gas mileage! Here are some pics... Lemme know what you guys think!

Did you really do that? That's a pretty interesting project... Honestly, I am not sure if I got it all, but it's pretty awesome... It's a windows device app... And the way you made the police scanner thing, the gas calculation... Man, how much of a programming skills you have for that one?

@power Supersport it's real easy when you understand VB! The police scanner is set to my city, but it is streaming from a website.
Thank you man! I am going to post a preview version soon, just got to fix a couple things. Thank you man!

Oh, I get it now... So, you get the data out of an external site... Well, that's still great... And I am looking forward to see a preview...

looks cool, but the first thing that cross's my mind, ist if this app using WiFi or 3G(LTE) ect
and i assume if it's using a data plan for internet access, you better have an unlimited data plan..
I got caught once while streaming video from my car for 2.5 hours one day, went over my data plan limit and it cost me $50 for that 2.5 hours. ( wont be doing that again anytime soon ).
I have google maps on my android, but have never used it for mobile navigation.
I have a separate GPS mapping device, it only requires a GPS signal cause it has all the mapping data builtin.
Some time ago i did buy Streets & Trips 2006, which is a windows mapping software, it comes with a USB GPS receiver. Turns any window device into a GPS receiver, plus with the built in map data, only a GPS signal is required.
The GPS can be used for gas mileage tracking as well by tracking vehicle speed and with gas purchase info can find MPG, average speed ect ect.
