Hi everyone! I'm new here, like really new (I joined 35 minutes ago ) and I was wondering if someone could enlighten me about all these question I have in mind concerning 3D Rad FYI: I'm familliar with Google Sketchup, I can model some simple stuff. Well after my n00bish introduction, there goes my questions: 1- Is Google Sketchup (with 3D Rad exporter plugin) ideal for modeling and terrain making? If not, I'll gladly try whatever software y'all suggest 2- Is there any tutorials concerning Angelscript used in 3D Rad? I remember reading somewhere it is more like C# or C++ (n00b missunderstanding here ). And if there is, I would love if you present me like a beginner to pro Pdf file about it. 3- Any software for making textures? I was thinking of taking pictures with my phone and processing them with Gimp

Hey 97valkyre79 , welcome to the 3drad forum! About modelling, since you're already familiar with google sketchup, I'd suggest you go ahead and use it for your modelling needs, When you start needing more complex models for your games , like characters and other organic looking models, Sketchup can be extended with various plugins. About Angelscript, its a bit like c++, or even like PHP (if you have a background in that) There are no indepth tutorials that I know of, but you can always try looking at the provided script examples and reading the reference. It will also help that you look thru any user created 3drad projects, on how they accomplished various things. n_iron has a fantastic collection of resources for that. You can use any kind of software here, really. Your approach sounds good. I'd like to recommend texturelib.com as a nice place to get textures for a variety of things, and also awesome bump for bump map creation. In the future, I would recommend you try learning blender, as that would give you greater control over your modelling process, and with things like texture baking and animation all bundled into one package, it'll really be useful. All the best, and have fun!

bro, Welcome to the forum, OK, Sketchup is OK for terrain modeling I use it for alllllllll of the modeling I do, Angel Script is I guess easier then C# or PHP. If you just know QBASIC you are good to do with it but requires some practice. And I've learned Angelscript mostly me myself there are no resources I just had the reference not even internet It took about a year to learn. It's simple bro. ANd for textures you can use photoshop to edit them and rather than from web sites I suggest to go out for texture hunting, and edit them. 97valkyre79 good luck

Hi, first of all I can only be thankful for the replies I received, you are most welcomed I don't know how mentioning here works lol so I'll just type hawk , I wanted to include my own textures in my future project (I have fps in mind, after I get the basics of angelscript ) but will use the website you suggested for bump maps add some depth or tessellation? (an other n00b misunderstanding xD ). And WhyNot , since I have a crappy laptop, I think Photoshop will set my motherboard on fire hahaha so Gimp is my choice for now, I'm glad you liked my texture quest idea lol And thank you dear members for helping a brother out
