hey doc, i noticed you put some custom text on the startup screen resolution setup box in v2 (like website, etc) - do you recall what file you modified to do that?

Pretty sure it was the dll3impact file that I changed around... I can't remember how I added the image but I know I used resource hacker to change the look of the dialog around.

I've just fixed the download link to Ninkeo Kart (again!). You can now find it (with working download links) at drninkeo.me/ninkeo-kart/ along with the screenshots of the game that I had on the old forum

Alrighty, for those who have been active on the discord, you'd have noticed I'm actually working on a 'remaster' (a completely new game) of the original Ninkeo Kart. One of the things I wanted to do differently so much from the original is adding: - Some sort of drift functionality
- Being able to pick any colour possible and applying it to the kart
- A hot-lap function, where the best lap is recorded and compared to
- 4 four track GP cups for a total of 16 tracks
- Better variety and orginal kart designs, which vary from an off-road rally racer, up to an on-track speed kart
I also wanted to try and squeeze the best graphics I possible could out of 3DRAD before it begins to choke badly, so I used the tried and trusted method of using giles to lightmap the terrain, along with populating it with X-trees (2d trees are nowhere near as intensive as having all 3D trees). Take at the screenshots I've taken so far as I've added more to the game. Now this track is the first one (Flying Cartwheel Raceway) from the original game, and look how good it looks with trees and a lightmap! The original version looks a bit crap to look at now If you want to stay up to date with progress, I usually put screenshots in the discord every now and then.

the trees outline is very obvious below skyline, should try different shaders/z-buffer settings until it looks right.

Actually the outline was from me removing the background from the trees, not much I can do to make it better except try and make the texture a bit better indiedev

did you cut that by hand? better to have a tree pic with a contrasted background like a blue sky, then gimp etc can auto-mask it near perfectly.

I used photoshop with the autoselect tool, it didn't do that great until I amped up the settings a bit more. Originally it left a very noiceable white border around the tree itself, turning down the tolerance all the way to 0 fixed that, but deleted parts of the tree I didn't want gone (like the trunk). Playing with the LOD settings got me something looking a fair bit better than what's there currently. Niice and sharp for most of the way. Now to work out why the lightmap is a bit extreme on that map

Hey guys, just letting you know I'll be putting everything in the thread that's in the game projects section, because after all, this one is the completed games section. Look over in 3drad.boards.net/thread/1124/nk2-kart-racing-max for more screen shots
