Hello to all, im new to 3d Rad i would like to know of its possible to make cars, but without weels,, i mean like in star wars, land speeders, floating cars. Question 2, it is possible to use texture 1024x1024 or 2048x2048? Question3, it is possible to create the ground in 3ds max and import that as a ground? If i want to make a racing game, i saw the videos of how to do that, but i would like to change the ground, not those horrible mountains we have when we start a pre-made model. Instead of having mountains i need to have my own city.
thanks to everyone.

Hi, welcome to 3DRAD. If you import the 3dsmax file into sketchup then it can be exported to 3d rad. And floating/non wheel vehicles possible. Look on the old forum for sample projects. I can upload you some .3dr files, but only on Friday.

yup that can be done, you just have to hide the tires skinmesh and rigid body, but if you want to make it fly then use the air foil object there is also a tutorial on that in 3d rad projects, i hope this helps..

Hi to get a good example of this type of vehicle you could use the Buoy object. Think outside of the box try the BoatDemo.prd

Hi to get a good example of this type of vehicle you could use the Buoy object. Think outside of the box try the BoatDemo.prd n_iron ya that can be done too it will feel a hovercraft that way and yes you can use large textures but they will effect the loading time and framerate,,

I strongly recommend you using textures only up to 1024x1024 (rarely to 2048x2048), because higher resolution may down the framerate dramaticly... If you use many textures, better use less resolution (over 256x256)...

Hi imothep85 I had a quick look at the buoy object and it's quite possible to do it. The only thing was you will have to continue monitor ground clearance. To do this you w ill have to use the scanner or may be plot nodes around the race track so a script can adjust the height.

the simplest "flying car" or "hover car" implementation would be an ordinary car with the body and wheels hidden... add a futurecar skinmesh and some particles to enhance the effect... don't link the skinmesh to the car... use a script and link it to the car with iObjectChildTransform() or Jestermon's LocalToParent() so that you can use the speed of the car to raise the car off the ground and control the particles the faster it goes... see attached simple project Attachments:hover car.3dr (249.39 KB)
