Hello . Ilve been using 3d rad for almost two years now. Ive reached the end of my development phase for my first video game. It is a multi level adventure game. My last hurlde is getting 3d rad or 3d rad player to run without crashing. Ive done research for this error , which says ' the application requested a runtime to terminate in an unusual way' it also says something about C++. Ive uninstalled and reinstalled microsoft C++ 2005, 2008,2010 alot of times, which didnt help. Ive also cleaned as many registry errors and defraged the registry and hard drives. Im running an intel i3 , 6 gigs ram, geforce 9500 gt (512mb). And windows 8 pro. Ive also tried installing .net framework 3.5 , which didnt help. Im posting this thread for help, maybe some one has encountered this error before. The compiled project crashes after the 7th level . But if i restart the game from level 7 onwards it runs but still crashes a couple levels later. I think 3d rad is awsome and has great potential. There isnt one idea ive thought of which i couldnt implement into 3d rad. Thanks for taking the time to read this post

hey kulu welcome to the forum, the latest runtimes are necessary to run 3d rad and compiled project, you also need a good version direct x, there could be 2 things-:
1.your direct x version is not compatible or your c++ runtimes are old 2.it could also happen because of your less video memory, it is hard to run games on a 512 mb graphics card, the rest of the specs of your pc are fine though.
can you attach a screenshot of the crash report here?
Less ram usually causes the computer to crash and a less memory graphic cards usually crahses the game, it happens a lot, on my old pc even the 3d rad editor used to crashed...

Hi Kulu, welcome to the forum.
Fernando (creator of 3drad) always said that if it runs in the editor it will run compiled. The compiled program .exe file is a virtual copy of 3drad's editor '3drad_player.exe' and therefore if it runs in the editor it should run compiled.
More than likely you have custom objects or something is missing. For example if you build your self a car object and you can, it will have to be included after compiling, you must get a copy of the custom object from RAD's resource folder and paste it into the compiled resource folder. You may also have ini or txt file that also must be copied over.
For the best optimization of a project before compiling you must close it then open your project again and then close it straight away. This provides the compiler with the latest .cmp file so only the resources you have used are included, if not it will compile your project with every resource available making your project excessive. I seems as soon as you hit a key it deletes the .cmp file.

yeah the .cmp file is really necessary, but sometimes it is not present in the folders, so just open some other project in the editor and the .cmp file of your last project is visible again

Hi im just updating my findings. I found an .exe patch that increases the virtual memory that a 32bit app uses on a 64 bit windows enviroment. The patch increase the virtual memory from standard 2gigs to 4gigs. This patch has drastically improved my compiled projects stability. But im not sure if its a permanent fix. The compiled project runs alot longer (elapsed time) than before. I recomend this patch ntcore.com/4gb_patch.php

Hi again. Ive downloaded and installed the C++ 2005 runtimes . I got the link from the 3d rad help files . But my compiled projects still crash after about level 7. Ive also installed the latest direct x runtimes . So am i safe in assuming that the problem is my gfx card? Ive also gone through a process of disabling start up processes ,with a clean boot. Incase there are software conflicts. But this also didnt help. Is there another solution that might help?

Hello Im updating my findings concerning the crashing compiled projects, that ive been experiencing. Ive changed the shaders that my project uses for skin mesh from bump, bump glossy, glass and water to defualt and smooth glossy shaders. The compiled project doesnt crash when i do this. So im guessing that the issue was with my gfx card not being good enough. I hope this helps someone else who may be having the same problem.

Hi...
Sorry for not replying all of these... I just noticed them...
It's probably the shader model... If you really changed the shaders and then the project ran well, the problem should be the shader model of your video card...
Shader model 2.0 is recommended...
BTW, what are the specs of your video card?

Hi
my pc specs are :
Intel i3 3ghz 6 gb of ram ddr3 winfast PX9500 gfx (nvidia 9500) 512 mb motherboard is ASrock
i did change the skinmesh shaders for the entire project , which is about 15 seperate levels. I changed the shaders to 'default' , 'smooth' , and 'smooth glossy'
I can now also run the project at the highest resolution of my gfx card.

It's probably because of the shader model...
And which shaders you used before?

Before i changed the shaders for the skinmesh's ; I used smooth , smooth glossy ( low medium and high) , bump, bump glossy ( low medium and high) glass bumpy . And water bumpy glossy.
