Hey guys,
Just got me thinking again because everytime I search for 3d rad stuff and info, it points to 3drad.com and 3Impact.com it is now a different site and the other one is down or blank. So I was wondering if v7.22 would be the last version and if it is, would 3D Rad be considered abandonware?
I'm just curious and would like to know if the developer or owner really left this product and what is the current licensing status of this software.
Thanks.

It goes like this..
Fernando made 3drad freeware and closed the 3drad.com and 3impact.com websites.
We often assume abandonware but i don't think fernando ever has said this, and for all we know could be working on a new product and hasn't bothered to inform us.. we just don't know, all we know for sure.. freeware is the most accurate claim .

Thanks TinSoldier. Yes, it seems there's some grey area with the whole licensing part, but I guess a bit of information is better than none. I also found an older discussion here related to it. 3dradboards.org/thread/457/fernandos-email

Ya i also did some googling..
Turns out abandonware is actually closer to the truth, the main definition being "any software not sold or supported by the copyright owner, who may still enforce its copyright"
Freeware seems to be software that has been released to the public domain including its source code.
Soooo 3drad is FREE but seems to be abondonware, not freeware as the source code isn't available and copyrights may still be enforced.
