See last message in this thread for info.
Copy & paste the above IP into the client connect box to join the project. Find any problems post here, or if i'm around we can chat in the project about it. This isn't a install-able project, just unzip / extract it, run the .exe, when you don't want it anymore, delete the whole directory.
So i need some volunteers to test out this chat & icon project.
Mostly i'm testing the player online icons, because for some reason the project works, then 15 minutes later on a second run it doesn't work and no changes were made... i can't figure out if 3drad is randomly puking or if the project is somehow wrong.
I've tested it locally and all seems well, but to really test it out, it needs real over the webz trial runs.
I have the project server running here waiting for you guys to connect and test it out.
I may or may not interact with you in chat depending if i notice anyone on line.
255 people can connect at the same time, but only 8 player icons are setup.
When a player joins and if all is working, you should see an icon turn to color telling you all is well, your connected.
The icons run from left to right, #1 to #8 player, you'll see your player number printed on the bottom of the screen, and in front of all text lines
Once connected you can slide the volume control for the text received notice sound (clicks once per text line).
I would prefer if you test out the project over a couple days, by connecting every now and then to see if it all continues to work, then after a couple days and a few trial runs, post back here with the results ( did the icons light up, did other project options work or not, etc, etc ).
If you wanna hangout in chat waiting for others to connect, that's fine, the server will be left running 24/7 for a week or so.
I'll update here when the server is off-line.

Sorry but, nothing appears when I press F4. I mean, the window doesn't appear but it's visible that it has been loaded.
EDIT: Ok, I did it playing in windowed mode.

yeah, sorry, it looks like something happened during the night to the computer, i suspect windows did an update and rebooted the computer maybe.. Just to be sure i'm doing a full computer virus scan, currently at 50% done so it will be a few hours before the server is back up.. Famer

Server off-line permanently.
Conclusion: 3drad SUCKS.
No matter what i tried, the same thing, the project randomly works or not across both win7 pro and win10, 2 different computers, the exact same compiled project, the exact same result.. just randomly works or not from one run to the next.
I'm giving up on 3drad... i've spent literally years learning to use all the different versions and only have one project that was completed without issues.
It wasn't a waste of time cause i've learned lots , i just wish it wasn't with 3drad.
You can delete the download, it wont be used anymore.

i think it's pointless adding MP to games these days anyway, unless you can maintain an ongoing online community somehow, as most people move on to other games after the initial play through unless it's addictive or very popular/highly competitive.
so many MP only games on steam now with empty servers after a few months, even though sold well initially, but a solid SP game can be played indefinitely.

TinSoldier, I guess we all come to that conclusion someday, me included... I gave up because of script object limit (funny fact, script can only recognize objects up to OBJ_1980)... I hope you still remain with the community, despite quitting 3D rad like most of us did... Good luck with Unity...

This could not have been put any better I 100% agree. To TinSoldier:Bro, you have got so much potential. We have all seen it, at least now you can move on knowing you did everything you possibly could with 3D Rad. I hope you stick with the forum, you are a very good Radder still and you have helped so many people. Me included. Thank you bro

well, once the user got the knowledge 3DRad is just laggy & buggy, then there appears a big question: if to go away or if to stay from my own experience (with version 6.50 and the last one) and what I remember 3DRad MP is techically doable, but practically absolutely unusable I personally still love 3DRad, but not giving that tool any false hope - it is just designed to produce simple single player projects only.

If development never stopped I bet that 3D Rad would be one of the leads in both SP and MP games along side Unity and Unreal. If only...

All said and done, i rethought my problem with the multiplayer online icon indicators..
Turns out it can be setup without using a script object, just EventOnInput to network the online state between server and clients. (3drad will be doing the networking syncing internally rather then using script commands and inetfloatarrays)
The chat still works fine.
Add a EventOnValue to switch the icon states when input is received.. so far, it took me a little over an hour to setup the beginnings of a working solution. Testing still needs to be done to validate the idea.
We're still dealing with 3drad, soooo, it will still have laggy networking i'm sure.. but throwing this away at this point, would really be a major waste of my time if i don't at least complete the project,... buggy or not..
I'll keep playing with 3drad, but keep an eye out for something else to come along like 3dradSpace.
I may actually dig up the other projects that i started and never completed and see if they may work out.
I've got a rubics cube thingy, and a slide puzzle from years ago, a ping-pong project, and i even started a pool table project .. there is also a ISS simulator, a pinball project, a floating island game thingy, a plane shooter-upper, a few others too.

UPDATE:
It turns out that my problems were worse than i thought.
When 2 or more clients were connected, the chat slowed down to a crawl and literally was taking up to a minute and a half for the server to send the text to other clients...
After 30 or 40 edits trying to find the issue, it turns out that 3drad DOES NOT like the inet_float_array being sent every engine cycle ( 60 times a second ) ... who knew... EDIT-------------- I suspect fernando may have known, that network lag may have involved the inetfloat array. This `could` explain why there was an updated iNetFloatArraySendEX command added to the engine, that allows us to reduce the amount of network data being sent, that should reduce lag. I maybe wrong, but it does add up in my head. END--------------
Fixed that so the array only gets sent by the server if an update to any value happens.. PROBLEM SOLVED.
The icons too were having issues that showed up from time to time... i assume the float array was involved..
So now I've had 8 clients all connected on this machine with the server on this machine too, all works fine.
Before i declare 3drad doesn't suck quite that bad.. i'll test the project over 2 computers and a few days to verify all is still working as expected.
If all tests work out, i can get back to working on the main project part.
