Hi, so I have bought the F1 2010 game by the Codemasters(oldest one cause it's cheaper ands it's only for testing) for comparing and getting a feel on how a F1 car should behave and react. This has helped me to a point wich I cannot even explain. Whilst snooping around in the game files(like if people don't do that ) I found the whole games textures and sound recources. The sound is a great help but not the problem. I now have access to hundreds of texture files and I want to use them so badly but is it even legal(obviously not but like what's the odds someone will notice. It is after all a game made 5 years back) to use these files in my own game. I will edit out company and car manufactures logos and names. The game will be available to purchase online for about 10 bucks and would be quite the game(like commercially available game). Would you guys suggest I use these heavely detailed textures wich the company invested a lot in or should I rather keep away from using them in my models/ game. Thank you

I think if you use the resources, but for non-commercial purposes, they will not cause you any problem...

Well,if you wanna use textures form other game to your commercial game, you must contact that company. That may not be such a good idea, the company has released 4 games (F1 2011; F1 2012; F1 2013; F1 2014 and soon to release F1 2015) since 2010 and has bought multiple rights to use Ferrari, Mercedes and other companies. I would not even dare ask cause the texture files can only be opened by 1 piece of software specially designed to load that textures(wich I am sure Is not legal).

i don't think that you should use those textures used in F1 2010 or any other game, F1 2010 is still considered one of the best racing game 2012 is considered too, but this is not the point, codemasters i think have all the content of the game copyrighted and if you are using it for commercial purposes you may fell into a big trouble you may even need to pay vast amounts of fine and your game should be taken out of steam, you will feel a little insulted and others and it will be too late after compilation to change the textures cause you may need to color all the sketchup models again so here is my tip... keep most of the stuff original all the companies should be imaginary or use your own company as advertisement it will give you a lot profit as you will advertise yourself for ex- on a car advertise your brand name like 'f1andre games '
i know this is the hard way but its legal and will give you the most satisfaction and respect, i try to keep my things legal, i use commercial free fonts and other stuff and i like to make all the models my self cause i think that i can learn to make them and i do.

Well said. I'll keep away from the textures(except things like tables, trees, lights etc. the small stuff that can be get anywhere).
