Hi all. I've messed with 3D Rad for a while now, but I cannot for the life of me figure out how to make a 3D animated character. I'm on the verge of giving up on the engine! Frustrates me to no end that I can't get this working. I have these animated .DAE files, I export them from blender to a .X file, and then make the new skinmesh with that .X file. Well, it's invisible! As a test, I tried exporting the model without the animations, and it showed up just fine. I'm a bit stumped on what to do. Any thoughts?
Ended up figuring it out, though the method I do is very unconventional as to how many steps are taken. Even then, FragMotion cuts the run animation down to 16 frames, so it is incomplete, but at least he's animated now. Now if I can get this one other bug fixed where the character will move by himself when starting the game up. For instance, I will run forward near the end of a ledge and press "ESC" on the keyboard and start the game again, the character will move by itself to the same location I stopped at before pressing "ESC".
Hi Animating skins is not easy doesn't matter what program you use and I am no expert.
I have found Blender to be one of the hardest to master so I stuck with Fragmotion. 3Drad must have all the animation sequences separate, you can have many sequences like walk, run, sit, shoot and meany more. 3Drad call each as separate animations and repeats them if you don't stop them. Game Guru has all of its animations in one, so when it is animated it must know when the animation starts and finishes but this is all controlled by an associated text file the engine read. Blender will only export 1 animation for each mesh so it must swap mesh to run a different sequence. (Only guessing now not absolutely sure how blender works)
Below is a link to a tutorial on animations I did for Fragmotion .
