Hey, guys,
I came up with this idea soon, I will explain later what exactly it is... I just want to point that Mike Hense has done something similar before me... He made 2-day modelling challenge for recreating a Unity or Unreal rendered scene...
So, do you encounter a problem when you want to model a building and it looks terrible? That's because you have lack of modelling experience or you just don't have enough imagination to make one look realistic...
I went through this... when you see the thing and try to recreate it, you get stuff that you've never even imagined... just because you see the scene's all details and stuff... But when you don't have a scene, you have to use what you've learned from detailing, texturing etc.
What happens when you have all the modelling experience, but you don't have knowledge about details? That's not only about modelling experience... It's scene experience...
I'm just giving an example... you want to build industrial area and you want it realistic... You can't do it before seeing a real industrial area... even more... you can't get it realistic if you don't pay attention to it's details... That's it... you may be the best modeller (I mean you can know the interface of the program, the stuff that the tools do etc.) but you may never be successful modeller of a scene...
Anyway... I hope you understand me... I encountered this problem while building my stuff... I was like: "I'm gonna make this thing so realistic... I started Unity, it gives more possibilities"... then I started to make buildings, but they didn't look realistic... just because I didn't know what to put in them...
You have to get this, guys... It's not the modeller, it's not the engine, it's your skills and experience in modelling stuff arround you... the knowledge of details, proper texturing, simplifying from useless polygons... it's all up to your skills... You can get a badass game in 3D Rad and even make it successful if you just know how to proper model things arround you... Unity gives more possibilities, but it doesn't model instead of you... you have to learn this by yourself...
Enough of that... This is something that I felt I have to tell you... all of you... since we're a community...
I want your feedback about this idea... do you want to recreate real image? Do you want to extend your knowledge?
Tell me by replying... I will be glad to see positive response...
I know that we're always busy with our projects... I mean every single one of us can tell: "I am busy now, I don't have time, sorry"...
Yes, I can too... but the point is that we all have to learn important stuff and the game experience depends on modelling... I agree that scripting is the next part of importance...
These two things generate a game: Graphics (modelling) and Gameplay (scripting)... Now we're gonna pay closer attention to modelling...
You all see Star Wars Battlefront... you're just blown up from it's graphics... but EA are a company old more than 20 years... they've learned alot...
That's why we have to go forward... do something...
Let me know what you think... do you want to recreate image? Do you have any feedback? I do this because I care about the community...
Thanks... looking forward for all replies...
