I've never played GTAV story mode, so idk how the character switch works. Is it immediate from the pause menu? Does it happen between missions?
Sorry to be a downer, but unless you're a master at AngelCode, a GTAV clone would be near impossible. I'm having trouble creating a light traffic system for a small city, so I don't even know how one would pull off a GTA traffic system. Though, I have an idea for you: if you really do like Grand Theft Auto, why don't you twist it into something a bit smaller, more manageable, yet really fun. My idea is to take a few small city-areas and filling them with ligjt traffic and enemies. You would have the same guns as the AI people. You would be able to find guns around the small map and steal cars to use against your foes. I would call it, 'gang wars.' It would basically be a 4v4 on a small map with the likeness of GTA, such as a third person camera and the ability to steal cars and use them. It would be like CoD mixed with GTA, and would be much more manageable. Tell me what you think of the idea, I think it would be cool and original, and I could help you make it as well as the other people on here who are better than me.
I hope you at least consider the idea, because, unless you're willing to make a GTA clone no matter what, this game is going to end up incomplete somewhere in your My Documents folder.
DUDE watch the video It gives a detail about the character switch and also I made the character switch model with no script but it is not that perfect there are still some bugs tell me any social network of yours so I could contact you and sent you the file I dont want to post it in public
well it won't be possible to make a game like gta 5, still to switch characters you can try adding 3 event on input objects for 3 characters, for example 1 event on input object will start one character and disable others and the other will do the same this can be done with scripts too but this is an easy way
switching characters would be just like making a switch to switch between 3 songs, if you got my point
That's the same thing I done but not by disabling the character but hiding the cam chase and I placed cam chases over the character to give a switching camera effect and also a slow motion camera script

i think you need to use the SAVE_X() and RESUME_X() in your scripts, Power Supersport knows more about scripting than me and i never tried to use the save game feature in 3d rad, but i think it won't be that hard..
i am just a learner, who is learning from some time, on this forum there a lot of 3d rad veterans , like heatadvisory , n_iron , FDX, grimbarian or the most active Power Supersport , if you have a question you can ask on the forum rather than spending a whole week on it...
I like the idea of this, honestly if you still need someone to help you make a game similar to GTA, I'm in. It seems pretty odd how it's an impossible project to everyone but me. I've succeeded to making it for the past 4 years using this program and I'll tell you one thing, it's all about loading in levels but having the same map in each one, on top of loading any kind of changes you did to your character along side of money (value) and vehicle saves (location save) which means it'll load what you last completed in missions. So yes, if you're not dumb, and you have an advanced machine andd you kept your computer clean and didn't run like 30 programs hogging up your RAM, I'm pretty sure RAD is capable of a game big enough as GTA. It can vary from the simplest to the largest GTA project. I can sayy current project has cars, cpus (civilians and automatic cars), police triggers, that you kill someone in the game, the police are on your ***, I have a full map, fully animated characters, NPCs, boats, airplanes, jets, missions, shooting, aiming, money pickups, custom mod shops, clothing stores, and even explosives. I mean dude, I even have proof this is even legit too, Rad engine can handle a lot more than you think, if you know how to handle it. I mixed Unity engine with RAD in altering program files, and I'll tell you what, over 1,000 objects, and no lag so again, if the help is needed, I'm willing to help, of course a favor needed in return.
Possible^2.... And it'll be REAL TOUGH...(Just to highlight) 1. Graphics: The most important! I think with the right shaders it can achieve this, but we'll need a lotttt... of skinmeshes.. 2. Menu and Game: It's gonna need a lot of projects that constitute the story of the game.... So, jumping between them is gonna be a headache... 3. FPS: Now we're talking real serious... Menu may have a good FPS, but the game project? It's gonna swallow up your RAM in just on gulp... There are a lot of things that I didn't mension, but at the end, it's up to you...
NOTE: I'm not saying it's impossible(Possible^2... )
