I just saw this, i realize this is a year behind...
I was an admin on the 3dfoundry website,
ZB block was a addon to prevent hackers..
At the time the forum had at least one persistent wanabe hacker (script kiddie) that was using a script to attempt loggon's at a rate of 3 per second for hours at a time, mostly at night (pacific time).
That in it's self isnt an issue, but... excessive usage like this does cause excessive bandwidth usage and can slow down responce time for the rest of the user base trying to use the forum..
Multiple accounts were created using anonymous proxy's etc, attempting to be hidden on the internet , but the hacker was so stupid, that he often used similar naming practice's on those accounts and putting similar account info in all accounts... was way to easy to figure out it was the same guy.
After a while of seeing thousands of loggin attempts in the forum logs, i posted a message on the forums support forum, detailing the issue we had..
A guy replied with details of a addon that effectively prevented identified hackers from not only accessing our forum but their IP was also added to an online hacker database so that any forum using this addon would also block that IP by returning a 404 not found message or similar.
The end effect of this was, hundred of anonymous ip's were blocked from hundreds of forums just because one hacker used that ip for hacking at some point.
If your IP was one of these, either you are a script kiddie, or using an anonymous proxy to hide your real IP for what ever reason....
The easiest way to identify a user doing this is simply to notice if their posting IP changes on a regular basis, thats the first thing to watch for, but that alone means nothing as IP can change on a regular basis, but when that happens, the IP's tend to be similar because ISP's are assigned IP address's in chunks, not a bunch of random IP's.
But anyway... if your IP is on this hacker list part of the process includes uploading the forum logs showing the IP activity, thats pretty hard to argue your innocent when viewing the forum logs showing otherwise....
Well it's not my forum, i was just a admin and i was the one that added 2 different addon's to deal with potential script kiddies / hacking . I don't want to get into an argument over who's guilty or not guilty, gamedeveloper shared the screen cap and also pointed out that thunder was also blocked..
I'm not accusing anyone of hacking, just pointing out the reality of what happened, and that error may or may not have involved a forum add-on.
3dfoundry is dead and gone now, script kiddies / hackers WERE NOT the reason the forum closed.
As a matter of fact, i never received and still haven't received an email or notice why the forum was closed....

I have a little bit of info why the forum was closed, but let's not discuss it too much on a topic, which is quite different than this... When you tried to post, the forum says that your daily limit was reached, when I literally wasn't posting from weeks... That's what happened to all users...
