I want to have a custom level design for my project, but no matter what I try, it isn't solid. I tried the backface fix that was in another thread, but low and behold, the character falls through. Any ideas?

Hi, are you sure that tbe ground the character is walking on in sketchup is white(when you disable the tectures to only expose the bare white, right click on any face that isn't white(only if the player is going to touch them) and click on reverse face).

Whoops, I know the problem now. Have you attached a rigid body to the characters feet, it is usually a ball. Have a look at the sample character project, just note that the rigid body is hidden so just reanable the show rigid body function.
A skin mesh can never collide with a rigid body. Since skin meshes aren't physics supported. SSo always make sure if you want objects to collide, that they both have rigid body's attached.

I'm confused. You said, "that they both have rigid body's attached.". How would I attach a rigidbody to a rigidbody/ Oh, and even the default 'rock" rigid body doesn't have collision. This is messed up. I've had this problem for a while now.

I said that any object that needs to collide must have a rigidbody attached to it. Sorry I thought you knew this since it is basic knowledge, but you are new. You must link the 2 objects that must collide in order to let the pc know you want them to collide. So just link the ball with the rigidbody terrain.

click on the Car or the camera if its a fps game and then click on the checkbox of the rigid body to make sure it collides...

the rigidbody (RB) objects acts like solid surfaces which needs to "link" in the 3drads project item list to be collidable together.
but sometimes this rule just desnt work, which usually is a 3d object source issue, eighter a wrong surface orientation (some inverted polygon normals) or a "unhappy" polygonal surface size issue (a small RB object will fall through a big RB object because of a small/large size of the single triangled surface)

@frogz2007 I changed your topics heading to give visitors a better understanding of what the thread is about.

Power, nice tutorial. It explains everything about backfaces and faces. It's useful

Weird. I got the first person camera to collide with the custom rigidbody terrain, but the third person won't collide no matter what i try.

I got first person working now, but the goal for me is to get third person working. I think my goals are way too advanced, because my goal is to recreate a childhood game of mine that is a platform game. I have the models, animations, and sounds to do it, but my problem is putting it all together. Get what I mean? 3D Rad is my only hope, because I know nothing about coding. Even if I could just do a simple little prototype where you run around a level, and can jump and grab ledges and such, it would suffice.

You should ask Power Supersport and the thread Minecraft terrain generation in 3D Rad Game projects where he uses 3rd person view, jumping, walking and if you want so to ask him for a script when you don't know how to code because soon or later you will need it. He will surely help . And about the animations and character, this is harder part than making a simple racing game. Either way you have to do the game what your heart inspiers. Good luck after all!
