New here and haven't used 3DRad in a very long time. When I did use it - I was always intrigued by creating a 3D game with a 2D viewport and feel. I felt it was an underused game mechanic and that 3DRad would be a pretty perfect tool for rapidly prototyping it. Over the next few weeks I'm putting together a SuperSprint style racer - nothing complex, just something simple and (most importantly) complete. I'll add new pics as they're done - but here's a few very early to kick off with.

Hi, grimbarian, welcome to our forum! Well, I can't see the images... But they are from dropbox... please use the original "Share" link from dropbox and place it into your post... I'm gonna edit it and make the images visible... The reason is that you need to be logged into dropbox to see these images... You can experiment by signing out and checking the forum... you will not see any image...

Hi Grimbarain Good to hear form you again.
A little while ago I was playing a side scroller (monster truck racer) on the iPad it was great fun so I decided to try making one on 3drad but lost interest (still there may look at some time later), but I think would be possible.
What else have you been up to.

Everything we've been up to is on our website at the minute ( www.rotarygaming.com), but I've joined up here as I fancied just kicking back with 3DRad for a little while. There's been a lot of work done on side scrolling style that you're thinking of - must be some links on the old forums somewhere...

To make image visible, you have to get direct link... Getting direct links from dropbox requires some link transform... As you know, in 4shared you can get the direct link freely... But how to get it in dropbox: Example is the "Banting Setir" game's link (That's not a direct link!) https:// www.dropbox.com/s/25fxfm6dzhdeqk1/BantingSetirV1_TechDemoInst.exe ?dl=0Replace the " www.dropbox.com" with " dl.dropboxusercontent.com"... Then delete the " ?dl=0" at the end of the link... so we have our direct link as this: https:// dl.dropboxusercontent.com/s/25fxfm6dzhdeqk1/BantingSetirV1_TechDemoInst.exe (Test it and you will be sure) Hope I was helpful!

Thanks guys - not aiming to impress - just entertain.
2009/10? Bit early for me Delly - didn't start with 3DRad till 2011.
Just for fun here's a glimpse of Track 1 progress. Nowhere near finished, but coming along nicely. Track 2 & 3 are at the same stage.
*EDIT* - Probably should add that the FPS runs at 60 when not recording video.

Hmm, Seems to me that the video is not showing up anymore for some reason. No matter - those that want to can have a simple 2 track demo (WIP - no menu, no sounds, some placeholder graphics) to have a play with and feedback on if they'd like. www.dropbox.com/s/cplsnioo1wu3tym/SSForumTest.zip?dl=0Feedback on frame rates and playability would be appreciated. Thanks. *EDIT* - 5 lap races, once a race is complete the game will take you back to the menu so you can try the other track.

Hopefully some of you have played it and just not fonud the words to tell me politely "it sucks" yet. Anywho, pushing on I've added some SFX to the race start, a racetracker scoreboard into Track 1 and a new font to replace the default text/value prints. Updated screenie below (if I follow Power SuperSports instructions correctly...) And a post race screenie after all the skidding around the place has gone on...

Hey... Just had some time to test your game... It's really well made... and if it continues development, it can grow up... Really want to see this in future...

Hey... Just had some time to test your game... It's really well made... and if it continues development, it can grow up... Really want to see this in future... Thanks Power Supersport. It's already moved on considerably since that little demo, visuals are much more polished now (see screenshots above), some sounds added, collision particles added, and the Lap/Position display sorted. Over the weekend I'll be adding the music, some more SFX and finalising Track 1. Once Track 1 is done, it's a simple case of cloning the project for each level - just changing the AI path and waypoints. Development will continue till it's finished, but I don't see it growing up.

i just had a chance to "test" this out... i keep getting lapped by the other cars...can't steer good enough to stay off the walls... i can see this being a real challenge with some added stuff and some sound...
neat... everything ran smoothly at 1024x768 and higher...

Thanks for the feedback Mike - appreciated. Sounds are being added at the moment and the visuals/default text & value prints have been sorted. Just deciding whether to go through the effort of adding a selectable 2 player mode or just leaving it as a quick/simple 1 player game. Going for a playable Menu screen to help players who don't know this type of gameplay to learn it before a race. Will basically involve driving to your track selection.
