Imagine this -
In a game, your near death, maybe 1 more shot would kill you.
If you press [Q] to quit the game back to the main menu just as someone fires that last kill shot at you, if theres no quit delay, you could cheat death or at least cheat the other other guy out of a kill point(s).
Some games have a quit delay, just to prevent this, as it's some times viewed as cheating ...
Thoughts ?! .

If it's AI (offline game), you're cheating on yourself. If it's multiplayer game, your appearance in game should be controlled by the server and not by the client application. So, in case you want to cheat, you can probably still quit the game, but you'd die on the server anyway if the server considers that you're still sitting at the same spot as you were just before you quit. Of course, depends on how the game is made.
I personally prefer a responsive game, quit game included, so I am for no delay.

What if when you quit an AI of you takes over for a few seconds?

An AI wouldn't be playing as your character.

If we're talking about games like Minecraft where you're allowed to disconnect and disappear from the server, I think the developers intentionally didn't make such a feature, where if you're near to dead you can't just quit unharmed. It really depends on the game as well...

it should be more like when you quit the game leaves your playermodel with the ability to die sitting there if the game recognizes a projectile heading at you as you quit the end result is as power said you dies on that server and when you rejoin you have to respawn no delay no cheating death,,,, kinda complicated isn't it XD
