with all the recent talk of 'external scripts' i stumbled upon these, i guess we'll never know what cocacola20 was on about but these are not C++ converters, just external alternative angelscript editors [like what GH Games made, but better! ] -if they still worked that is, but maybe they will for others, or some C# genius may be able to fix them if they seem useful advancedscripteditor.codeplex.com/-[ASE for short] an auto complete editor with function lists, tried v301/30/29/26, all crashed. -there was a v302 released here: drninkeo.me/3drad/topic=4435.0.php so if anyone has that please attach to this thread. 3dradder.blogspot.com.au/2010/05/3drad-script-editor-replacement-hijack.html-basically just opens notepad++, scite4au3, or Advanced Script editor [v25 ] then copies the code back to rad when you close it -file missing error, if you place the files in v26 above in the location specified [and rename folder to v25] the icon will appear, but obviously it is not coded for this version so crashes. [****edit****] so if anyone has ASE v25 please also attach to this thread. -also tried editing mEditorHijack.ini by swapping the # headers for my notepad++ location, followed steps [run SERH, run rad, edit script] no crash, but notepad++ didn't open either. ------------------- edit2: for ASE v301: 'This version allows you to change which version of the Script Object it works with by changing the AdvancedScriptEditor.ini file. It you are using Script v1.36, this update is not necessary.' ....latest rad v7 uses script v1.42, tried changing to that but still crashed.

That's interesting, I was experimenting on some ways to have better coding features like intelli-sense and code sniffing and what not for angel script in 3drad, but I was stuck on how to automatically get the script from Scintilla and then put it back once you're done. That hijacker is exactly what I needed, wonder how it works.

I actually added IntelliSense to Script Assistant 2.0 as one of the main features but I removed it a while before release. Is that something I should bring back maybe as an addon? Also... maybe addons where you could add your own C# code?
If at a later date it becomes annoying to people or if they have something they want to add I will just release the source code for editing. (Though I feel obligated to say that the code is so messy I can hardly read it... these projects where some of my first in C# xD)

IntelliSense would be useful, but what do you mean by adding C# code? to your program or to rad as a converter? advancedscripteditor has source on the page if you want to use any of that.

Like in for example Blender where you can add your own custom plugins (I think that's right).
Though thinking about it, the program is pretty basic and might not be worth adding this feature in it's current state. I might remake it to be honest, the code is so messy it makes a pig eating out of a troff look good. Plus it would mean I could add the plugin feature, make it open source and make the code more viewable to human beings.
What do you think? Yay or Nay?

i don't know C#, and for intellisense to be useful really needs all rad functions, whereas you only included the most common ones, so instead of rebuilding, why don't you use your C# to fix/debug advancedscripteditor instead? but only if you find it useful with it's highlighting features etc.

Okay indiedev I have the source code, going to go through it now and see what I can do. P.S. The license says you can edit, sell, rent, redistribute it... but would I be able to legaly release it as 3.0.2?

Okay indiedev I have bad news. This programs source code is well organised... but that's about it. The version I have (which is the only one available) doesn't work and is beyond repair it would appear. The Main.cs form (which is the main form the program uses) is either corrupt or not included. Without it I can't do anything sadly. Let us know if the devs get back to you about your request. Hopefully they will update the Source along with the program.
