Okay, so, I played it, and it has potential if you're willing to put some time into it.
Here's some constructive criticism that may help:
-First off, the game gives a huge frame drop in most areas, making it almost unplayable
-The cop cars failed to keep up with me
-The racers seem somewhat glitched, they were able to start before me, kept bumping into walls, and by the time I could move my car the racers were around the corner and I never saw them again
-The graphics could be a bit nicer, a bit cleaner
-I see what you're going for with the handling, but as of right now it just feels clunky and hard to drive around the tight city streets
-If I look out over the edge, there is nothing to look at but the tan, empty skybox below
-I don't know if this is only a demo to tease a full release, but if it isn't, it could definitly use some more events
Overall, as I said before, the game has potential. I have a feeling that if the reaction time on the car was a slight bit faster, the handling system would feel smooth as butter. Speaking of smooth, you need to optimize it so people don't get huge fps drops. Try using the mip-map things on the skinmeshes, along with other things.

How would I fix the skyboxes? This is just a beta release. Lots more work to do.

bartyrocks3 , bartyrocks3 , bartyrocks3 .. As i said, that download is way over loaded with files that aren't suppose to be there... I was able to load your mariotrack and add a car and drive around It looked pretty nice, problem is the scale is like 400 times bigger than it should be.. that's gonna kill framerate not to mention looking way out of proportions.. As to the project, as mentioned framerate sucked for me, but in fairness, my graphics card sucks even worse If you use DDS textures and apply DTX5 compression with mipmaps on all your textures, it's said to help with rendering performance. Also optimize the models as much as possible....

To fix the skybox, you can create your own custom one ( lower the horizon or remove it even ).
Or you could put up wall or mountains or some other obstruction to hide the horizon line and below.
If you really want to go big, create a custom really large sphere ( very low poly ) and flip the triangles so they face inside, apply a repeating cloud texture, add this sphere as a skinmesh and give a sloooow rotation.
The sphere will give you animated clouds ( be sure to center the sphere in your modeler program or center it on your ground model ).

I stuck to simple and simply surrounded my city with water (which I'm proud of, because it looks beautiful. It's reflective and moves like water XP). I still wonder how I would explain that though XD

I guess I`m not cut out for game development. I think this is the end of this project. I can`t take the stress and there is soo much more then I thought their was. For being in 7th grade, this is just too much. I give up

Barty, here's a deal for you, i'll help you optimize the hell out of your project. You'll need to share the project with me so i know what objects are in the project, plus i can test run it aswell, if it proforms ok on my system, it will be fine on everybody else's system. Second, i don't want to do any programing, i can give some tips as needed though. I have 3dsmax and i can convert the X files i think, so i can load and optimize if needed. PS i don't use sketchup like you, not implying that's a problem, i just don't need to use it. I can also convert your textures to DDS with mipmaps and DTX compression. I only charge $300 per hour for my trouble I don't want or need credits, that's totally up to you.. i'm just bored and need something to do. I use dropbox, that's probably the best way to share project stuff, and we can PM here to share any info, no need to clutter the forum with useless chitchat.

And I am not begging you to not give up but try your best! Posted on my iPad Air.

Don't give up! Game programming takes a lot of practice. From what I've learned it's mostly trial and error. Also, TinSoldier... I could use some help/tips with optimization as well, please pm me. I'll credit you towards the end if you have some good tips. I would upload my project, but there are a couple of reasons why I'm not going to even bother to try. 1. The file size would be intimidating 2. With so many files, I would probably end up forgetting to upload a necessary folder or file or two 3. The game would seem almost broken upon playing it, as I am working towards the completion of many parts of it at once 4. I'm trying to keep the game mysterious/under wraps until I complete a beta/demo, as I want it to present itself really well. It'd be like going to a fancy dinner date and putting on the tux halfway through your meal XD

Sorry to say, i'm not santa clause , helping Barty right now and it's turned into a little more trouble then i bargained for.. As is i need to redesign part of his project models involving 200+ rigidbodies but it sounds worse than it is, it's just time consuming.. I'm not looking to help anybody else right now. When and if i do, i'll offer the help, not take requests to do it.

I think this is funny, i'm quoting myself So anyway, i was playing with the mariocart track you included in your bloated download... Had an idea, and sure enough, i have a copy of sketchup v8 installed and completely forgot about it. So i went to the sketchup warehouse, searched for and found the mariotrack source file ( actually called rooster island ) downloaded it, and sure enough, the author totally screwed up the dimensions and had that little island part set to a size of 200K meters across when it should be more like 300 meters there abouts not 200 thousand meters, that doesn't include the water plane which is like 3 times bigger still. So anyway, i re-scaled the model down to the proper size, exported with 3drads export plugin and it looks and works really well. I also found out the guy who made the track has like 200+ models he's made, so i downloaded i think 20 different mario tracks he made.. I still need to load and check them for scale in sketchup and adjust if needed... i just mite throw together a multi-track mario cart race project.. i also downloaded a few gokart designs that i may use or just use as a reference to design my own low poly cart models.. Some of those sketchup models are way to heavy on the poly count just for a single models, for instance, one i looked at, looked really nice, but had 27 textures, 170K polygons and like 13M in file size............. just for a simple gokart design......... That's ridiculous for a 3drad model, probably ridiculous for any modeling program / project.. about the only use for that model would be eye-candy or making intro graphics for a project. bartyrocks3 , bartyrocks3 , bartyrocks3 .. As i said, that download is way over loaded with files that aren't suppose to be there... I was able to load your mariotrack and add a car and drive around It looked pretty nice, problem is the scale is like 400 times bigger than it should be.. that's gonna kill framerate not to mention looking way out of proportions..
